The Queensland Government’s (QGOV) 2018 amendment to commercial building cladding legislation, is a major undertaking being implemented by ‘Safer Buildings’, which was established to prevent potential tragedies like the Grenfell Tower fire.
Zupp Property Group found that our building at 5 -7 Discovery Drive, North Lakes, passed the government’s testing for sound cladding under the new legislation.
Notwithstanding this, Zupp Property Group has been a proactive building owner and took the initiative to have every Aluminium Composite Material (ACM) product installed on buildings within our property portfolio tested by the University of Queensland Materials Performance, a world-class test laboratory. The testing involved all three types of cladding at the property & whilst two types passed the testing regime, the results for the third indicated that the material was beyond what has now been deemed as within the safe threshold.
Therefore, even though not required by law to do so, Zupp Property Group will be replacing the unsafe cladding with new material which is a solid aluminium panel protected by a non-combustible fluoropolymer metallic paint.
The ongoing safety of our tenants & their clients is always our foremost priority.
